Honk’s blend of humor and drama required fun and color while staying grounded to hit the dramatic notes. Digital illustrations were carefully rendered using brushes that imitated the expressive and youthful energy of oil pastels. The Ugly Duckling’s journey takes him far from home, showcasing a variety of settings and seasons.
The Blizzard Scene
Honk’s climax sees the main character trapped in a whirling blizzard, fully animated using Adobe Fresco. Perfecting the effect took days of research, experimentation, and rendering, which ultimately succeeded in serving the show’s thrilling ending.
